What's new....

It's been a busy couple weeks here. First of all, my dad was up for his usual summer visit of work and play. Had a great time and got lots done here. The big project was insulating, sheathing and reshelving the garage. A fairly tough job when the garage wasn't really built on centers and the trusses are warped. Gotter done though and am so going to love it this winter. It'll be a nice warm place for the retired sled dogs on those really cold nights and a warm place for me to work on gear and my sledout having to park my sled in the living room to thaw it out.

Don't know what we would have done if a friend hadn't lent us this drywall lift!

Time out for a couple good hikes in Hatcher's Pass.

Dinners and toddies on the porch in the evenings.

Topped off with a way cool 200 mile bike ride with some great friends and dad driving the sag wagon. The ride is through the most beautiful country on this planet!!

The ride was followed up with a beautiful ferry ride from Valdez to Whittier.

....and just to really top it off, we enjoyed a tailgate party complete with spaghetti and meatballs on the cook stove along with some toddies, while we waited for the tunnel to open so we could finish the ride home!

It's been a great couple weeks. Now it's back to the grind. Lots of chores to get done before heading back to school in a month.

Dad, Rich, Canon and I hiked up to this ridge in Hatcher's Pass. It's a pretty tough, long hike, but well worth the effort.

Look closely at Rich's shirt. In case you can't read it...."I am why we ride. I am not alone. I am thriving with Diabetes." It's his T-shirt from this year's Amer. Diabetes Assoc. Tour de Cure. Every year Rich and I do this ride as a fund raiser for the ADA. If Rich doesn't inspire every abled bodied person to get up and move, not sure what would!! He's my hero and my inspiration!

Here's my other hero and inspiration. My dad joined us for this hike. Not only is he here in AK working his butt off helping us insulate and heat our garage, when we do take a "day off" from working, we spend it hiking in the mountains. He's 73 years old and can hike me into the ground!

Anyone still wonder why I run Iditarod????
